Stereophonics front-man Kelly Jones brought his new band Far From Saints to Glasgow’s Oran Mor to kick-off a series of live dates prior to the release of their debut album on 16th June.
Comprising of Texas based band The Wind and the Wave duo Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker along with Stereophonics bassist Richard Jones and others the project in a move in a different direction with a country/Americana feel. Debut single release ‘Let’s Turn This Back Around’ had already got tongues wagging and is already proving a new favourite for fans of Mr Jones.
Live the collective did not disappoint, as a fan of the Phonics and Kelly’s distinctive vocal I’ve been wanting to hear a female duet for sometime and in Patty Lynn the match is spine-tingling (goose bumps good).
Evidently the pre album drops ‘Take It Through the Night’, ‘Back Around’ and recent single ‘Scream Hallelujah’ were highlights whilst initial set-closer ‘The Ride’ got the place rocking while encore covers of ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’, ‘Hey Baby’ and ‘American Girl’ left everyone looking forward to album release date and demanding another Scottish gig.
