A few years ago, Noel Gallagher gave an interview to a Dutch magazine and he was then asked: The Smiths or The Stone Roses? and the former Oasis guitarist replied:

'The Smiths. They've done so many things. The Stone Roses made only one good album; a fantastic album. I wouldn't even count their second album but each album by The Smiths is legendary."

It is true though that if it hadn't been for the Stone Roses there wouldn't have been an Oasis as Liam was inspired by Ian Brown and the Stone Roses legendary Spike Island gig.

So The Smiths for Noel by a mile.
