In an interview with total guitar, former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher talked about singer songwriters and bands.
Noel Gallagher said: "I’m sure that if they were given a chance there’d be a lot of bands out there. But there’s a reason there are a lot of singer-songwriters. Because no-one wants to be in a fucking band any more. No-one wants to be in a band because you can buy enough technology to have a recording studio and a pressing plant in your own bedroom. It’s easy for people, for singer-songwriters. It’s convenient. That’s why the music sounds easy and convenient. A band is all about the struggle. It’s fucking hard work to be in The Rolling Stones because of the personality clash. It was tough to be in Oasis because of me and Liam. But out of it, you manage to somehow forge this fucking great music."
Finally Noel Gallagher added:"Singer-songwriters do not change the world. I’m not talking about albums. Fuck the music. The music is secondary to bands. When I think of The Rolling Stones, I don’t think of the music. I think of them. The fact that they made that music comes a very close second, but it’s still secondary to them.”
