In an interview with Radio New Zealand ahead of his visit to this country, Noel Gallagher talked about his love of psychedelic pop music from the 60s and the number of bands he's discovered in the last two months.

'I am constantly looking on the internet for psychedelic pop music. What's fascinating about that is I can't believe the amount of bands I discovered in the last two months I'd never heard before and they have some great tunes. Why did I miss that?'

Regarding new music, Noel Gallagher  said: "There's good songs but not great bands. There's not been a band that has blown me away since Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys. I am not bothered about people who make music in the 2000s they are generally idiots, aren't they?"

We'll see if all this 60s pop psychedelic music influences Noel's new album.

In other news, Noel Gallagher said he saw the end of Britpop.
