Liam Gallagher is fronting a new music supergroup, which has links to his idols THE BEATLES, rock gods THE WHO and . . . THE LIGHTNING SEEDS.

Roger Daltrey and Liam Gallagher will join forces in this new supergroup according to the Sun newspaper.

Liam Gallagher has joined forces with Who frontman ROGER DALTREY, former OASIS drummer ZAK STARKEY — the son of Beatle RINGO STARR — and Lightning Seeds singer IAN BROUDIE.

The new band, whose name is as yet unknown, will make their debut on the one-off revival of Channel 4’s TFI Friday this week, performing Who classic My Generation, which Liam covered with Oasis.

Apparently, it was the idea of host CHRIS EVANS to form this supergroup, though it’s unclear if their appearance will be the start of something special.

A source revealed: “Liam’s got a bit of time on his hands since BEADY EYEcalled it a day last year so he fancied trying his hand at something new. He’s told mates he’s pretty bored.
“Other than Noel, you would be hard pushed to find a better set of bandmates than Roger, Ian and Zak. “It is a proper supergroup and the performance will be something to remember.”

TFI Friday — or Thank Four It’s Friday — ran for six series from 1996 until 2000. It is back on Friday for what has been billed as a 20th anniversary special, even though it’s been only 19 years since it first aired.

A TFI spokesman confirmed: “We have invited a number of amazing musicians to form a supergroup for a unique performance during the TFI Friday special, including Roger Daltrey, Liam Gallagher, Zak Starkey and Ian Broudie.”
