In an interview with Uruguayan newspaper elpais , Johnny Marr discussed writing his own memoir and a soundtrack for Julianne Moore's new movie. Marr also had time to talk about The Modfather Paul Weller ahead of their upcoming show at British Summer Time..
Marr said: "I've been offered to write my own memoir several times. And it came to the point that I just could not ignore that and realised I had to do it. It takes time, though as I'm working on a soundtrack for Julianne Moores new movie but I´ve written bits of it and I really like it. Writing a movie script is an interesting challenge but writing songs is still my thing." and added on what Weller meant to his generation: "There are many similarities, I'd say, between me and Weller. We both became famous very young and we both represent the music culture of the working classes.Paul was the best
when I was at school. I could identify myself with Paul (Weller) because he was young. I knew I had to do something for my own generation which came after punk rock and it was the beginning of what is known as "indie" these days. I find all these terms very funny."
Johnny Marr is touring South America and will play British Summer with Paul Weller and The Who June 26. BUY TICKETS.
