Paul Weller

Paul Weller (akaThe Modfather ) was born in Sheerwater, near Woking on May 25 1958.

In the 70s, he formed the band The Jam with bandmates Rick Bucler and Bruce Foxon releasing six studio albums.

When The Jam split up in 1982, Weller branched out to a more soulful style with The Style Council from 1983–1989, before establishing himself as a successful solo artist in 1991 releasing 12 studio albums.

His critically acclaimed 1995 album Stanley Road took him back to the top of the British charts for the first time in a decade, and went on to become the best-selling album of his career. The album included major single "The Changing Man".

In those days, The Modfather found himself heavily associated with the emerging Britpop movement that gave rise to such bands as Oasis,Blur and many others.

Weller is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the finest songwriters in British music history.

Just recently, Paul Weller released his 12th studio album "Saturns Pattern". However, the Modfather is not intent on taking a trip down Mod memory lane and keeps on innovating. Weller himself has said on his new album "I'm always looking to see where else I can go with the music and where I can take it. I'm trying to remain as open minded as possible. I don't feel there's anything I wouldn't attempt musically."

Happy Birthday Paul Weller.
