Video Footage of Damon Albarn playing “Mr Tembo” to the actual elephant which inspired the song appeared online.

The short 12-second video shows Blur’s frontman performing "Mr Tembo" for Mr Tembo but what makes this elephant so special? It was the muse that inspired the song “Mr Tembo”, which was part of Albarn’s first solo album, “Everyday Robots”.

The track is about an orphan baby elephant which Damon met on his visit to Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. According to Consequence Of Sound, the singer travelled back to Tanzania and gave the concert featured in the video.

In statements to NME, Albarn talked about his first meeting with Mr. Tembo and described it as a “beautiful little fella”. He also commented that when he stopped playing the song in his ukulele, the elephant “backed away and shat himself”.

In other news, Albarn announced last month that he would start working on Gorillaz new album in September. He explained he couldn’t start sooner saying: "I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance. I'd love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."
