Powered by AB Project

In this exclusive interview with Carl Barat of the Libertines, we talked to Carl about their third studio album 'Anthems For Doomed Youth', the likelihood of releasing a new record with The Libertines and The Jackals, collaborating with Noel Gallagher,  playing the new songs live and his acting career.

Read the interview below.

KB: I would like to start by asking you a question which may be a bit big but let's see: what were your greatest aspirations as a young boy, and would you say you’ve achieved them?

CB: Oh. Thats a big question yes. I suppose that when it comes to aspirations the trouble is that the more you achieve, the more you get. I guess it is the same with ambitions. I guess my greatest aspiration has always been happiness. So I may say Ive achieved that one yes. I guess that to achieve all these aspirations one may have, you have to do your hard work, have faith. I guess hard work and faith would make it easier for anyone to achieve their aspirations.

KB: What's it like to be back together and what would you say has changed over the past two years?

CB: Not much has changed over the past two years. To be back together with the Libertines is great, it's wonderful I would say. It's good to see the strentgh we have together. I guess it is a lot more genuine, more real. So it's great to be back together again for sure.

KB: Did the process of making this third album feel like any of your previous ones? or was it totally different?

CB: It was totally different as we'd never recorded out of London before and this time we went to Thailand. It was a totally different situation but we were like in paradise really. We lived together there too. I think we lived together during the first record too but it was definitely different.

KB: It's been a little bit more than a year since you released your third album, have you been working on new songs already? Can fans expect any new songs any time soon?

CB: Yes, we started playing new songs but we haven't recorded them yet. Sometimes you play little things and then you sometimes record those songs. We have got new stuff but I don't think we'll record them until next year.
